Sep. 7th, 2011 11:05 pmIt's that time again--yep, artwork update time here at the Green Wolf! There are not one, but TWO new full hide wolf totem dance costumes, new fur pouches, a ton of tails, and a couple of new wall hangings, too.
As always, prices do not include shipping, animal parts may only be shipped in the U.S., LAYAWAY is available, and part of the proceeds go to groups like the Defenders of Wildlife and Wolf Haven International. Everything is available on my website and my Etsy store. And if you don't see what you really want, custom work is available!
Materials: Mink fur, leather, yarn
Pouch dimensions: 10 1/2" x 4 1/2" (not including dangling legs and tail)
Strap length: 32"
Description: Autumn is approaching, and the vivid russet tones of the leaves are reflected in the beautiful pelage of this vintage mink stole that I've made into a foldover pouch. The front leather panel is leather from a secondhand coat, and the strap is braided secondhand yarn, making this a wonderfully upcycled piece!
Price: $25.00
Materials: Rabbit fur, deerskin
Pouch dimensions: 6 1/2" x 6"
Description: Can you see it? This lovely fawn colored rabbit fur pouch almost blends in with the leather background for the photo! The pouch has drawstrings of golden deerskin, creating a collection of warm colors.
Price: $12.00
Materials: Wolf fur, leather
Pouch dimensions: 5 1/2" x 7"
Description: Want a piece of wolf fur but don't want to encourage recent hunting? How about this pouch made from fur from an old coat? The leather drawstrings are also from a secondhand jacket, making this a great recycled option!
Price: $15.00
Materials: Fox fur, yarn
Pouch dimensions: 8 1/2" x 7"
Description: Most of the pouches I make are longer than they are wide; this one is a bit of an exception, made to allow for easier access of contents while still drawing closed tightly. It's made from soft fox fur from a vintage coat, and braided grey drawstrings made from secondhand yarn. Pretty, functional, and upcycled!
Price: $13.00
Materials: Rabbit fur, yarn
Pouch dimensions: 5 1/2" x 4"
Description: A lovely patchwork of rabbit fur recycled from an old coat makes an attractive pouch! Secondhand yarn, braided, creates the drawstrings. Perfect for a set of runes, stones or other small objects--even dice!
Price: $10.00
Materials: Rabbit fur, yarn
Pouch dimensions: 6 1/2" x 5 1/2"
Description: I took the fur for this pouch from a rather unusually colored rabbit fur coat. The fur is primarily snow white, but with a sprinkling of dark hairs mixed in, creating a subtle shading that the pictures don't give justice! The drawstrings are a lovely homespun wool salvaged from another crafter's leftovers.
Price: $12.00
Materials: Bamboo hoop, rawhide, acrylic paint, artificial sinew
Dimensions: 3" diameter hoop
Description: I got this bamboo hoop in a lot of secondhand crafting items a while back. I had some rawhide left over from sonmeone's drum kit, and so I cut out a circle, painted it with a leaping deer, and suspended it in the middle of the hoop. A very simple, lightweight wall hanging with pretty, earthy colors!
Price: $7.00
Materials: Metal hoop, deerskin, suede
Dimensions: 4" diameter hoop
Description: A few years ago I made a similar piece to this, and recently remembered that I liked it so much that I had wanted to do another. So I kept myself to that wish, and here's the result! The 4" metal hoop, salvaged in a box of secondhand craft supplies, is wrapped in suede leather from a coat. The pentacle itself is made from deerskin strap that I made from a scrap fro a larger project. It's a simple piece, but it has quite a bit of character to it!
Price: $9.00
Materials: Fox fur, leather
Description: This headdress is made from an Arctic fox head that was dyed black. Arctic foxes have little ears so that they don't get so easily frostbitten in cold weather, and these little ears here are adorable! These are probably better suited for a smaller person, but once they find their person they're sure to be a cute fit!
Price: $15.00
Materials: Coyote fur, leather
Description: This started out as a pretty badly damaged partial craft-quality coyote face. I perked the ears up, though, and added leather straps made from part of a coat, and this headdress is now ready for dancing (and can be matched with any of the coyote tails I have for sale!)
Price: $15.00
Materials: Coyote fur, leather
Description: When I first got this partial coyote face, it was in pretty bad shape. I perked up the ears, added leather straps, and it has been reborn as a headdress for ritual and dance! Please forgive it the quirks from its previous damage like random cowlicks and fuzzy spots; it's structurally sound, and has quite the character!
Price: $15.00
Materials: Fox fur, leather
Description: Coyote is often pointed at as the trickster totem, but Fox is quite the tricky one herself! These ears were in that tradition; no matter how many times I tried to reposition them, one would always face forward, the other to the side--a remnant of the damage the fox face had displayed when I first got it. So I just decided that these would be trickster's ears, and with their black leather straps they may be worn to invoke Reynard! Match them with any of the red fox tails I've made, too!
Price: $15.00
Materials: Bobcat fur, leather, 1 7/8" carabiner
Tail length: 6"
Description: This bobcat tail is wonderfully stripey! the carabiner makes it easy to clip on for totemic dance and ritual, or simply to keep a reminder of the totem Bobcat with you during the day.
Price: $20.00
Materials: Kit fox fur, leather, 1 7/8" carabiner
Tail length: 12 1/2"
Description: Kit Fox doesn't get quite as much attention as her larger cousin, Red Fox, which is a shame, because she has a personality all her own. Connect with this lesser-known totem through this pretty, dark kit fox tail on a carabiner for easy attachment!
Price: $20.00
Materials: Lynx fur, leather, 1 7/8" carabiner
Tail length: 4 1/4"

Price: $95.00
Materials: Wolf skin, leather
Description: Deep and dark like the woods, the dark gray shades of this amazing wolf are some of the most amazing that Nature's palette has to offer. I reclaimed this lovely wolf from her early death through human hands, purified her and worked with her spirit, and helped her to become something sacred. She is now a totemic dance costume, to be worn in sacred rituals and shapeshifting dance, as her spirit and the totemic Wolf join the dancer. Her face, which had been damaged, has been repaired and reshaped, her ears are perked, and she has straps to tie her on at the dancer's head, shoulders and thighs or waist depending on height. You may see how she is worn on my 5'4" frame, but at 73" from tip of nose to tip of tail she can dance with almost anyone who wishes to work with her.
Price: $350.00
Materials: Wolf skin, leather
Description: Like her midnight-tinged companion, this moonlit wolf was hunted by a stranger, and then reclaimed from that death by me as part of my shamanic practice. Her lovely pale coat is tinged with gold and black, and I painted her eyes, nose and lips. Her face has been reformed despite the damage it sustained, and her ears have been perked to match. She measures 66" long from tip of nose to tip of tail, and although she fits my 5'4" frame nicely, the leather straps she wears will tie under the chin, at the shoulders and on the legs or waist of almost any dancer. She has been ritually purified, and is prepared to join a magical companion in shamanic and spiritual work.
Price: $350.00
