Nov. 18th, 2011 05:51 pmMore artwork! Just a few things, but they're BIG things!
As always, prices do not include shipping, animal parts may only be shipped in the U.S., LAYAWAY is available, and part of the proceeds go to groups like the Defenders of Wildlife and Wolf Haven International. Everything is available on my Etsy store and Artfire shop. And if you don't see what you really want, custom work is available!

Okay, I'm cheating a bit on this one. This is actually a piece I did last year, but the pictures I had for it were pretty crappy, so I took the opportunity to take new ones while I was photographing some other art today.
Materials: Wolf skull, leather, wolf leg skin, glass beads, acrylic paint
Dimensions: 24" long
Description: This absolutely stunning rattle is made from an Alaskan wolf skull obtained from a subsistence hunter. The handle is a dowel rod wrapped in a black wolf legskin with white at the end, and all four hind claws. The skull has been painted black with white fur-like markings along the edges, and the handle has leather and glass bead tassels. It has a nice sound to it, not too loud, but good for indoor or outdoor work. A gorgeous ritual piece!
Price: $225

Materials: Wolf skull, leather, wolf leg skin, acrylic paint, deer hooves
Dimensions: 24" long
Description: I created this rattle as a tribute to the symbiotic relationship of predator and prey. I started with an absolutely stunning Alaskan gray wolf skull obtained from a subsistence hunter; the dowel handle is wrapped in a pale wolf leg skin with paw and claws. At the "neck" of the rattle are a series of leather straps with deer hooves/dewclaws stitched to the ends of them. The rattle works best when gently shaken side to side, which allows both the hooves, and the stones in the brain casing, to make a lovely rattling sound. The skull is painted with a variety of abstract designs representing deer and packs of wolves; the wolves are in black, the deer in brown.
This would be an excellent ritual piece for a variety of magical and spiritual traditions!
Price: $250.00

Materials: Red fox skin, red fox tails leather
Description: When I got this red fox skin, she was in pretty sad shape; her ears were wrecked, stripped of cartilage, and torn up along the edges, she had some holes, and her face was all smushed! She was missing her forelegs entirely, though she still had most of her hind legs.
So I fixed her up, reshaped her head and ears, and made her into a headdress, with two recycled leather straps to tie under the wearer's chin. As I was working with her, I got a strong sense of the kitsune, the Japanese fox spirit, in her, so I added two more tails, and made her eye paint just a bit more fanciful. She's 51" long from tip of nose to tip of longest tail, and will fit almost anyone. She would be wonderful for working with that energy, though also just a good totemic Fox dancer as well!
Price: $120

Materials: Wolf skin, leather
Description: A classic gray wolf, this beautiful skin came to me with all of his paws and claws intact, a beautiful tail--and a sadly smushed head! I took the time to reshape his face and ears and add in detailing, stitch up some holes all over him, and brush out his pretty fur. I then added straps so he may be worn--one set ties under the chin; a second (the main weight bearer) ties his forelegs over the wearer's chest so most of the weight is carried on the shoulders, not the throat; as third set ties the back legs to the wearer's legs. He is a HUGE, gorgeous wolf, 70" long from tip of nose to tip of tail, and a really, really nice hide in general. He would fit most people; I am 5'4", for the record, and the picture shows how he fits on me.
I've put a lot of work into this guy, and he's not just some skin that someone tied a couple of straps to and called it good! If you want a really nice totem dance hide, complete from nose to tail to tips of claws, he's your guy Great energy to him, too, as I was working with him. He's ready for sacred dance and ritual, totemic work, and more!
Price: $500
And, as always, word of mouth makes the world go 'round. Want to support this self-employed artist? Pass this post on to anyone you feel may be interested!
