Apr. 18th, 2011 10:58 pmWell, I thought I'd done my last artwork update before the big move. However, the move got moved back a weekend, so I was able to make some more art happen! As always, prices do not include shipping, animal parts may only be shipped in the U.S., LAYAWAY is available, and part of the proceeds go to groups like the Defenders of Wildlife and Wolf Haven International. Everything is available on my website, my Etsy store, and my Artfire.
Materials: Snake rib bones

This is the only one like this I will make!

Price: $10.00
Materials: Deer antlers, deerskin, glass beads
Pouch dimensions: 8" x 6"
Strap length: 30"
Description: I'm really happy with how this pouch turned out! I made the base pouch out of deerskin with a piece of deer antler on the front. I then attached a complete pair of whitetail deer antlers bound into a circle to the mouth of the pouch, and added a foldover flap to cover the opening. There are also glass bead decorations, and a deerskin strap. This is most definitely a one of a kind pouch, and I put a lot of work into it to get the design just right!
Price: $50.00
Materials: Deer antler, wooden bowl, leather
Dimensions: 7 1/2" x 7 1/2" x 4"
Description: This is a little smaller version of the deer antler bowls I make, using a smaller antler, decorated with a few chew marks from wildlife, and scraps of leather leftover from larger projects. The antique handmade wooden bowl has been thoroughly cleaned even though it shows some wear and aging, and is safe for food. This is a balancing bowl; the weight of the bowl keeps the antler balanced, though it rocks a bit if pushed, but always returns to its balance point.

Price: $35.00
Materials: Javelina skin, leather
Description: In over a decade of making artwork with animal parts, this is the first full javelina hide I've ever worked with. She's in lovely condition, with only a tiny bit of shedding now and then. Her nose was a bit damaged, so I fixed that, and added detailing around her eyes, too, and stitched up her torn ears. She has leather straps to tie under the dancer's chin, and the legs strap down around the dancer's shoulders, tying her tight to the back. She measures 44" long from tip of nose to where her tail used to be--sadly, I couldn't find her a replacement, but she doesn't seem to mind. And she has all four hooves, too! Her energy's somewhat different from a European boar, but there's a definite spirit to her. I don't foresee myself working with javelina parts too often since they're hard to come by, so this is a rare opportunity!
Price: $325.00
And, as always, word of mouth makes the world go 'round--please do pass this on to anyone you feel may be interested. Thank you :)
(Oh, and if you missed it, just a reminder about the launch of my U.S. animal parts-related laws resource!)

on 2011-04-19 03:45 pm (UTC)For some reason I get the feeling that the javelina *really* wants to dance. Suids are way too underrated and I hope she finds a good home.
