I went to the farmer's market the other morning and picked up a few things.
smcinpdx and I have decided to go primarily pescatarian for a month to see how it goes, and I've been wanting to cook with mushrooms more anyway, so I decided to experiment. That and the biggest seafood vendor now sells cooked crab meat--all the meat from a two pound crab for $14, which is worth the occasional splurge for not having to actually dig the meat out of the shell!
So
smcinpdx cut up lettuce, spinach, celery, cucumber, green onions and added a can of water chestnuts for the green salad, then added crab meat to our individual bowls. Meanwhile I put a mixture of couscous, orzo, baby garbanzo beans and red quinoa, which we were trying in place of plain old rice, on to boil in a pot of chicken broth and a pinch of poultry seasoning. While that was simmering, I sauteed white onions, garlic, and the caps of several small shiitake mushrooms in olive oil in the wok. I tossed some toasted almonds over the grain mixed, then served the mushrooms over that.
And here's the result:

It was, by far, one of the best meals I've ever had. (Even if I'm still getting used to this stove's hotter burners and ended up burning the first round of onions and garlic...)
