Materials: Leather, jackal fur, artificial sinew
Pouch dimensions: 2 1/4" x 2 1/2"
Necklace cord length (each): 18"
Description: Here's something a little more unusual--a scrap of black-backed jackal hide! Unlike the black shade of Anubis, it's a lovely tan color, akin to the sands and dry plains of the jackal's home. I stitched it to a necklace pouch made of deerskin scrap from another artist, and added cords of braided artificial sinew.
Price: $8.00
Materials: Deerskin, metal feather charm, artificial sinew
Pouch dimensions: 2" x 2"
Necklace cord length (each): 10 1/2"
Description: Deerskin may just be my favorite leather ever; it's soft, and yet incredibly strong for its weight. This scrap of chocolate brown deerskin is especially nice, and makes a lovely pouch. The goldtone metal feather and artificial sinew cords make for a nice color complement. Perfect for small stones or other sacred objects!
Price: $5.00
Materials: Wolf fur, artificial sinew
Pouch dimensions: 5" x 6 1/2"
Description: This is reuse at its best--a piece of an old wolf fur coat turned into this lovely and functional drawstring pouch! I hand-braided black artificial sinew for the drawstrings, and they make a lovely accent!
Price: $15.00
Materials: Fox fur, acrylic paint, leather, yarn
Pouch dimensions: 5 1/2" x 5"
Strap length: 36"
Description: Black and silver is the theme here, with secondhand black leather from a coat made into a pouch, and a silvery-grey Arctic fox face for the foldover flap. Silver acrylic paint adds visual interest, and the secondhand braided yarn cord completes the look. A wonderful melding of wild and domestic, fur and leather, natural and synthetic, dark and light!
Price: $18.00
Materials: Brown cotton messenger bag, copper wire, suede leather, brass gears
Pouch dimensions: 12" x 9"
Strap length: adjustable up to 44"
Description: I rescued this brown cotton messenger bag from a local thrift store. It already had a pretty steampunky look to it, but the pink flower decal on the front just wasn't going to work. So I made a patch of brown suede leather from an old coat to cover it. I took some copper wire from an old computer part and twisted it into a minimalist outrline of an elk, with two vintage brass gears to suggest the shoulders and hips, and stitched them to the patch for a fusion of steampunk tech and reclaimed wilderness! Thios is absolutely a one of a kind piece, so take it home while you can!
Price: $30.00
Materials: Deer antler, vintage wooden bowl, yarn
Dimensions: 14 1/2" x 4 1/2" x 6 1/2"
Description: I wanted to try a new variation on my antler bowls, so rather than simply nesting the bowl in the curve of the antler, I split the Antler and let it be two supports with a lovely vintage wood bowl at the center of the arch. Reclaimed braided yarn adds a lovely accent. The bowl is well-worn with a good deal of character, and is safe for dry foods (though please clean carefully as needed with a wet cloth). Excellent for ritual work, decoration, and more!
Price: $40.00
Materials: Ceramic pendant, wood beads
Total length: 25"
Pendant length: 1 5/8"
Description: The wood beads in this necklace, reclaimed from a headband that fell apart, reflect their origin in the Celtic knotwork-woven tree on the centerpiece of this necklace, a lovely handmade ceramic pendant. A beautiful one of a kind piece; vegan as well!
Price: $23.00
Materials: Coyote canine teeth, vintage wood beads, bone beads, copper beads
Total length: 24"
Pendant length: 1 1/2" (each)
Description: When i was making this necklace, I was thinking of all the times Coyote died and came back, or otherwise cheated death, in myths and legends ranging from indigenous stories to Warner Brothers cartoons. I also was thinking back to when I di White Wolf RPGs more often, and about the Nuwisha, the were-coyotes. And I thought of the name "Laughs at Death", and it stuck. So here--have a stream of consciousness embodied in coyote teeth, copper and bone beads, and wood beads from a vintage beaded curtain. Vivid red and earthy clay tones mix with the stark white of bone for an incredible combination!

Materials: Wolf fur, leather, caribou antler, obsidian arrowhead, yarn, coyote teeth
Tail length: 24"
Belt length: 88"
Belt pouch dimensions: 5 1/2" x 4 1/4"
Description: So, following on the heels (hocks?) of the Okami-inspired tail, I wanted to also do one inspired by one of my favorite movies ever, Mononoke Hime/Princess Mononoke. And since Zhon provided me with two tails, so much the better!
I started with a real Arctic wolf tail, again 24" long and just AMAZINGLY gorgeous and plush and beautiful! I decided to go with black suede leather from a jacket for the back part of the belt, and the braided portion is more of the same, plus blue and green leather, also from coats. The entire belt is 88" long, so it will fit just about anyone. (My waist is 29", and there was LOTS of slack left.) And I am 5'4", so you can see how the tail hangs on me; it will look good on people of many different heights!
The decoration on the back of the belt features three hand-painted red triangles akin to those on San's face; I especially loved this feature of hers because they enhance a snarling facial expression (yes, I tried it the first time I cosplayed her). They're flanked by four coyote canines, two on each side, to represent her fang necklace. The obsidian knife given to her by Ashitaka is mirrored in the small obsidian arrowhead on a red cord hanging over the top of the tail.
And I gave this tail removable belt pouches as well, 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" each. They're more of the upcycled black suede and hand-stitched with artificial sinew. The toggles, around which leather ties create a closure, are two large, beautiful slices of caribou antler. These represent the Great Forest Spirit, protector of the wilderness San lived in.
Price: $250.00
Materials: Wolf fur, leather, yarn, jade disk, bones
Tail length: 24"
Belt length: 72"
Belt pouch dimensions: 5 1/2" x 4 1/4"
I'm not really interested in selling full-on cosplay stuff; however, I sometimes do decorated or themed tails (you can find them scattered throughout my gallery). And I've wanted to make one inspired by Amaterasu from Okami, one of my very favorite Wii games.
And this? This is the result of finally getting to do that!
The tail, one of the very biggest and fluffiest I've ever seen, is a full two feet long; I made the braided belt out of leather from an old coat, and secondhand red yarn. The streamer of red, yellow and orange yarn down the tail represents the solar flames surrounding Amaterasu in the game, while the jade disk, reclaimed from an old necklace, resembles the weapon Divine Retribution. The streamer does hang straight down; it was just getting blown to one side by the wind in a couple of the pics.
To try out a new idea that I'll be implementing in some specialty tails going forward, I made a matched pair of belt bags, 5 1/2" x 4 1/4", with a leather strap that ties around a toggle made of a foot bone from an unknown animal; the bone represents the Holy Bone that feeds Amaterasu throughout the game. The bags are removable!
This tail is one size fits most, with the 72" long belt. And it will work for people of a variety of heights; I'm 5'4" and you can see how it fits on me. Everything is hand-cut and hand-stitched and even hand-braided!
Price: $250.00
Materials: Coyote fur, leather
Description: I rescued a pair of craft-quality coyote ears, perked them up, and added straps of leather reclaimed from a coat, and now they're a headdress ready for dancing, with or without one of my many coyote tails! (First pic is the ears you will get, second is a shot of a similar pair to show how they look when worn.)
Price: $15.00
Materials: Coyote fur, leather
Description: Want some ears to go with your coyote tail? Here's a pair of craft-quality coyote ears that I fixed up, added to some black leather straps, and made into a headdress for ritual or dance! (First pic is the ears you will get, second is a shot of a similar pair to show how they look when worn.)
Price: $15.00
Materials: Coyote fur, leather
Description: This reclaimed pair of craft quality coyote ears has been well-loved (the back of one ear has a big bare spot!) but still would make a great match for one of my coyote tails! (First pic is the ears you will get, second is a shot of a similar pair to show how they look when worn.)
Price: $15.00
Materials: Fox fur, leather
Description: Want something nifty to go with one of my red fox tails? How about this cute pair of real red fox ears, perked up and made into a simple headdress with leather straps from an old coat?
Price: $15.00
Materials: Wolf fur, leather, coyote teeth
Description: When I first started working with this wolf face, I thought of one of my favorite cryptozoological entities: the black dog. Haunting dark, lonely roads and cemeteries, the black dog, whishthound, gyrtrash, hellhound--any name you call it--is considered to be a terrifying beast found in Western Europe, and even following settlers into the Southern United States. Of course, the physical reality is just as fascinating, as wolves are incredibly complex social creatures, far from being only mindless, ravening monsters. Whether you wish to call on the Black Dog or the totemic Wolf, this real fur mask, with coyote canines, may be worn over the face or on top of the head. As with all my creations with animal parts it has been ritually purified and is ready to be brought into your sacred space.
Price: $160.00

on 2011-08-23 07:31 am (UTC)The wolf/black dog mask is really lovely too. That came out really well. If I had any connection at all to Wolf I would love this for glamourbombing in... I hope it goes to someone who will appreciate it!
(Edit: Oops, I did mean coyote ears. Sorry, I'm so not familiar with much about wolves that I can't tell from looking, they looked like wolf ears to me. (´・ω・`))

on 2011-08-23 09:05 pm (UTC)Oh, (White Wolf geek impulse) there actually was a Nuwisha NPC called Laugh-at-Death in the Rage game and the sourcebook, I believe.
