Your post [and the one you linked to] was fascinating. There are things I do that probably do fall into the cultural appropriation category, though that has never been my intention. I do try to do research into the various parts of my belief system that I incorporate. For one, I like to know how Thing X was used/believed/whatever in its original culture before I consider bringing it into my own life. In some ways, it's the very fear of cultural appropriation that has put a big halt/blockade in my own spiritual practices, because I've got a very eclectic style.

Clearly, I'm now going to be doing more thinking and researching...
