Apr. 16th, 2012 05:29 amA potpourri of things--
I listed some fur scrap--wolf, fox, coyote and more--on my Etsy shop. Great for small crafts, spell bottles, and more!
Also, check out this awesome painting of the Wild Hunt over Portland by the talented Valerie Herron! She borrowed some of my headdresses and other totemic art for the reference photo that the painting was made from--I'm so pleased I was able to help out!
Soooo....you know how in the past few weeks I got a flurry of commissions for wolf headdresses, something like eleven of them within a month's time? Well, I'm getting down to the last few, and I wanted to show off what was by far THE biggest hide of the lot--and, I believe, the biggest wolf hide I've ever worked with in my fifteen year career! He was sent to me by a customer who wants him converted to a headdress, and as I'm about to work on him this week I wanted to get a "before" pic:

This guy is ENORMOUS--I was joking to my partner that "Wow, I didn't know wolves and bears could mate!" See that picture? That's me holding him, right up against me, not out in front to make him look bigger. I am 5'4", standing on my tiptoes, stretching as high as I can to hold this wolf up, and his tail's STILL dragging the ground. I can only imagine what a monster he was when he was alive.
It is a true honor to work with this wolf, as it is with all of them, and I can't wait to see how he turns out.
