Oct. 28th, 2010 07:00 pmHey--if you're reading this, please consider joining
savesnowssanity. Here's why:
My name is Grace, also known as snowcoma, and I am in desperate need of help.
I have several severe psychiatric conditions, including but not limited to, Bipolar Type One, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Panic Disorder, and Agoraphobia. Lately, these conditions have worsened to unbearable levels, and both my physician and psychologist have come to the decision that I must receive intensive psychiatric care or I will be forced to go into a mental institution. I have been voluntarily institutionalized once before, and it was hell on earth. It did nothing to improve my mental health, and made me even more reluctant to seek the help I need.
In order to receive help from a psychiatrist, I must raise a truly abhorrent amount of money. I am awaiting a call from my new doctor as to the exact sum, but each visit is $150, with the initial visit being higher, and I do not know how many visits I will need. We are looking at the hundreds to thousands range, and I am staggering under the pressure. The state is no help on this matter, and the friends that are taking care of me are stretched so thin financially that there is only so much they can do.
The auction community is based around helping raise funds so that Grace can get the mental health care she needs. Not surprisingly, I am a very strong advocate of taking care of one's mind as much as one's body, and I want to see my friend get the care she needs and is seeking.
To that end, I am auctioning off a lovely Coyote necklace I've made, with bidding starting at just ten bucks. It's a progressive auction, too, so as the bidding rises, I toss in more goodies! Go check it out--if you can bid or offer something for auction, or donate at the Paypal button on this page, great, but at the very least, please boost the signal!

on 2010-10-29 03:37 pm (UTC)Alas, money is in short supply as we are tearing out the moldy bathrooms beginning this coming month (please oh, please); to remodel and hopefully relieve my constant sinus crud.
(I just realized, I have NO idea how I got to this post, had to 'back' my way back to it. Please message me if any of my proffered items are desired!)

on 2010-10-29 07:41 pm (UTC)Send me an email (snowcoma at gmail.com) with a description of the item, a picture or two if they have it, and what they think a fair starting bid is.
Then either I or my fabulous co-mod can make an entry for it.
