Jan. 18th, 2011 03:26 pmSo I'm expanding my artwork a bit into making pendants for other jewelry makers to use. I'm going to be listing these on my Etsy store later on tonight, along, with some other supplies, but I figured I'd show them off a bit here first.

This is absolutely a one of a kind piece. I had a chunk of wolf bone that I got in an order, and I saw this wolf head in the shape of part of the bone. So I cut that part out (which was a serious pain in the ass without the right tools), and with a little sanding and carving, brought out the wolfishness a bit more. I then painted it with acrylics and gave it a few good coats of sealer. Part of this is to add a little strength to the bone, which is a bit on the delicate side, especially where it's thin (like the ears). I also added a silvertone loop behind the ears so it may be strung on wire or thin cord.
The pendant is 1 1/4" x 1 1/8" x 7/8". The picture isn't the greatest; it's actually a much warmer color than the picture shows. This is the only one like this I will make; as I said, it was a bit of a fluke in that I saw this in the broken piece of wolf bone I had.
$15 + $5 for priority mail in the U.S.

This is a set of three pendants which I think would make a beautiful necklace and earrings set. They're all three made of whitetail deer antler with unakite cabochons on them, held on with a strong adhesive. I also drilled all three of them through with the Dremel and added silvertone wire loops. The longer pendant is 2" long, the smaller ones are about 1" in diameter. Again, the picture doesn't really show off the colors nicely enough; these are very delicately variegated pieces of unakite!
